IPL 2020 Auction Date: When will IPL 2020 auction be held?

IPL 2020 Auction Date: The reported date of the IPL auction for the upcoming season has been made public by a portal.

The auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League is expected to be held in December this year. While no specific date has been announced officially, it is reported by Mumbai Mirror that players will be up for grabs in the last month of 2019.

While IPL auctions are generally conducted in the same year as the season, it was only the last year that the auction was conducted in December.

IPL 2020 Auction Date

With the last IPL auction being a mega event which saw a lot of teams actively participating, the same can’t be said for this auction. Only lower-ranked teams are expected to actively bid for players in the upcoming auction.

Teams which did well in IPL 2019 are most likely to stick to their original squads. Expect these franchises to only make a change or two depending on their requirement.

Some proactive franchises have already started to make amends with respect to IPL 2020. Kolkata Knight Riders have roped in former New Zealand and KKR captain Brendon McCullum as their head coach.

Yet to win the IPL title even once despite playing it from the inaugural season in 2008, Royal Challengers Bangalore have appointed former Australia batsman Simon Katich as their head coach. Former New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson will work as Director of Cricket Operations at RCB.

Among player swapping and trades, it is reported that Delhi Capitals are expressing interest in Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane and Kings XI Punjab Ravichandran Ashwin.

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League is expected to begin in April next year.
