Ivan Rakitic scores an extraordinary goal to cut down the deficit to one.
Barcelona locked horns with Chelsea in a pre-season friendly in Japan. The Blues were 2-1 victors in this game, thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley which proved unassailable despite a late strike from Ivan Rakitic.
The Spanish Champions were erratic in the first half losing possessions frequently. With no zero knowledge about Mateo Kovacic behind, Sergio Busquets tried to turn and pass the ball simultaneously. But, the Spaniard’s pass was intercepted by the Croat, which directly reached Tammy Abraham. The striker evaded goalkeeper’s challenge finding the back of the net.
In the 80th minute, Ross Barkley took a shot from outside the box to double the lead. It was an exquisite finish from the former Everton midfielder, who came on as a second-half substitute.
Deep into the extra time, Ivan Rakitic launched a rocket from outside the box. The Croat took a first touch before the back of the net bulged with an extraordinary finish. He took time and when no defenders close down, he picked out a spot in the top left-hand corner, thereby handing no chance to the goalkeeper to shut down that shot.
The midfielder has been in receiving the end of criticisms over the last few months, but everybody applauded this goal.
