Jason Momoa Starrer Live Action Minecraft Movie Gets a Release Date!

The Live action Minecraft movie is set to release on April 4th, 2025. The game has a history of crossovers which is why we are excited to see what the studio brings. Granted that fans have to wait for two more years to see the Overworld represented on the big screen, there are many things we do not know. We do have a release date. However, the rest of the cast is unknown. Today, let us discuss the things we do know about the movie, like the release date and more!

Minecraft Live Action Film Set to Release on April 4th, 2025! Jason Momoa to Headline!

Steve Carell was also in talks with Mojang Studios to be in the movie but that did not work out due to scheduling conflicts. The movie was first announced way back in 2014 and had a release date of 2019. It has been in developmental hell for more than a decade. However, Jason Momoa was announced as the star of the movie a year ago in April. The film previously was scheduled to release in 2022 but it was conflicting with The Batman’s release.

The director for this movie was the infamous Shawn Levy and Roy Lee was producing. But Shawn Levy left the project due to scheduling issues as well. The good news is that we DO have a plot synopsis that mentions a girl along with a ragtag group of adventurers. Here is the synopsis:

“A teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld after the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction.” We do know that the Ender Dragon who is the final boss of the game will make an appearance in the game. However, we do not know what other mobs or features from the game we can expect. Although, as time goes on we will find out what Mojang Studios has got planned for us.
