Jimmy Butler unhappy with 76ers role

The Jimmy Butler-Timberwolves saga had gently settled after his move to the Philadelphia 76ers, but it seems like Butler is taking trouble everywhere he goes.

The problem for Butler exists in his offensive role and he has thus challenged coach Brett Brown for the same, asking him for some clarity and some changes.

There already have been reports of a little unrest between the new big 3 in Philadelphia, that of Simmons, Butler and Embiid.

ESPN has reported that during a recent film session, the duo were seen in heavy argument with each other, something that did not look very harmonious to people around them.

Now, according to the report, Butler wants the 76ers to indulge in more pick and roll offense and isolated sets rather than the free flowing offense that the 76ers are presently indulging in.

While ESPN sources have confirmed that the duo should move past this slight controversy, but Butler will be ready to listen to offers next season, as he can opt for free agency.

While signing on for the 76ers, Butler had the notion of resigning with the team next year in order to get a bumper offer, but with unrest in the camp in the first season itself, Butler will reassess his future.

Also, Brown has already signed an extension with the team and is here to stay, thus how much will the offensive style of the team change is something that can’t really be banked upon.

While Butler would feel that his suggestions could bring about a slight change in style, but Brown and the team management will have to discuss if a new arrangement can result in an overall benefit for the team.

“Butler has been vocal in his contesting of Brown and his system, including a recent film session in Portland that some witnesses considered “disrespectful” and beyond normal player-coach discourse” the report states.

“Butler has expressed a desire to teammates that he hopes to play in more traditional pick-and-roll and isolation sets, rather than trying to find his place in the Sixers free-flowing offense, league sources said.

“In searching for answers, Butler has met privately with Brown and his coaching staff, as well as general manager Elton Brand, league sources told ESPN” it added.

Is Jimmy Butler going to be a problem for the 76ers going deep into the ongoing season? Massive controversy ready to unfold.
