G1 Climax
The G1 climax is the biggest tournament in the Japanese promotion. In its current format, the tournament lasts four weeks. The G1 climax feature all the top stars from NJPW. They participate in a round robin tournament with winners from two pools wrestling in the final to decide the winner. The tournament will last four weeks. The winner of each pool is determined by a points system; two points for a victory, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss.
The winner of the tournament, assuming they are not already the champion, will earn a contract for a title shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at NJPW’s largest event, Wrestle Kingdom in Tokyo Dome, held annually on January 4. The certificate is kept in a briefcase that the wrestler then has to defend until the end of the year.
With Moxley’s surprise announcement, we can now look forward to exciting matches with Tetsuyo Naito, Kota Ibushi, Hiroshi Tanahashi and many more!
NJPW’s Dominion is a professional wrestling event, taking place in Osaka, Osaka, at the Osaka-jō Hall.
