The news has come as a massive setback to the London based club
Just when it looked like N’Golo Kante was finally beyond the persistent injury issues which had hampered the last year for him, the midfielder has once again returned to the injury bed.
Kante Picks Up Injury With France
Out for France to partake with his country in their FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Kante has picked up a knock. The player picked up a hamstring injury during his country’s 1-1 draw with Ukraine, a match which saw Kante play the full 90 minutes.
Dider Deschamps, the French coach has since decided it best to send Kante back to Chelsea after consulting with the side’s head doctor.
A statement from FFF said: “The Chelsea midfielder felt a pain in the hamstrings of the left thigh at the very end of the match against Ukraine on Wednesday at the Stade de France.
“He had clinical and radiological examinations on Thursday, which revealed a small injury.”
While outlets in France are currently reporting that Kante’s injury is a minor one, the true extent of the problem will only be brought to light after he undergoes testing at Chelsea.
The international break has also seen Chelsea’s Jorginho and Edouard Mendy emerge as injury concerns for the club. Jorginho was left out of Italy’s squad with an injury issue while Mendy failed to join Senegal owing to a dental injury.
Chelsea will be ardently wishing the trio returns in time before the club’s next appointment a week later in the Premier League. The club went into the two week international break in the wake of some incredible results with the side most recently routing Sheffield United 2-0.
The FA Cup win took the club to a semi-final matchup with Manchester City. The side meanwhile also set up a quarter-final Champions League showdown with Porto after clobbering Atletico Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The wins took Tuchel’s unbeaten spree to 13 with the German manager yet to be defeated as Chelsea coach.
