Dhoni not only contributes with the bat and is outstanding with the gloves, he also helps his teammates whenever he can. Dhoni keeps chirping from the back when Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are bowling.
This has become a common sight in Indian cricket in the recent days. Whenever the spinners err in length or line, there is always someone from the back of the wickets to help them get back on track. Recently, in the show ‘What the duck season 3’ with Vikram Sathaye, Kuldeep revealed how Dhoni’s advise helped him instantly and he ended up taking a wicket soon.
The match was against Sri Lanka and the Indian spinners have had a sound thrashing. Just then, Dhoni suggested Kuldeep to to remove the cover to deep cover and bring the point in the ring.
As Kuldeep said that he was fine with the current field placemnt, Dhoni erupted in anger and said, “Kya main pagal hu yaha pe, maine 300 ODI khela hu’ which roughly means ‘Do you think I’m mad? I’ve played 300 ODIs’.
As it turned out, Kuldeep who had been very expensive his his first three overs, picked up 3 wickets in his last over.
