KXIP vs CSK Preview

KXIP vs CSK Preview: The Sportsrush presents before you full preview of the 55th match of IPL 2019 between Kings XI and Super Kings.

A reeling KXIP take on an upbeat CSK at the former’s home ground in Mohali. While the Super Kings are sitting strong at the top of the table and are almost ensured a top 2 finish, KXIP might be playing their last match of the tournament unless they come up with a huge win and some of the other results go their way. They need nothing short of a miracle to qualify now.

Form Guide

KXIP have now lost 4 matches back to back and are staring at another season finish outside the top 4. They once again messed up the second half of the tournament which has cost them big time. However, they would like to end on a high with a win against the table-toppers in front of their home crowd.

Chennai Super Kings are all but assured of a top 2 finish. They would want to win this one to keep the momentum in their favour going into the playoffs. MS Dhoni might take a rest considering the impact of this match would be minimal on their final standings on the points table.

Team Changes

KXIP have always been making changes. Some of them are forced ones with plenty of injuries to some key players while other changes are tactical. Hardus Viljoen might come back into the team in place of a misfiring AJ Tye. Their middle order firing would be a positive for KXIP and we can expect no changes there.

CSK hardly make any changes to their team. However, considering the Mohali track, Harbhajan Singh might miss out and make way for Shardul Thakur. If MS Dhoni is rested, Dhruv Shorey should get another game.

Pitch and Weather Prediction

The Mohali pitch has looked good for batsmen so far. However, since the outfield is big towards the side, it is tougher to hit sixes here. The average score here in this season is 170 and we can expect a score around 190 to be a safe one on this pitch. Spinners should extract some help and pacers need to try and swing the ball to make an impact.

The temperature will be around 37°C when the game starts but will come down to 30°C as the sun sets. It will be a hot and sunny afternoon with very little humidity and no chance of rain as of now.

Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss might look to bat first under the sun in order to drain the opposition’s fielders. With dew not playing a role here, batting first and posting a good total should be the way to go.
