KXIP vs MI Man of the Match: Kings XI Punjab top-order batsman was declared the Man of the Match in the ninth match of IPL 2019.

During the ninth match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians at Mohali, Kings XI Punjab defeated Mumbai Indians by wickets to register their second victory in IPL 2019.

Chasing a 177-run target, Punjab opening batsmen Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle (40) stitched a 53-run stand to provide their team with a start in the affirmative. While Gayle played a quickfire innings, it was Rahul who held Punjab’s innings together throughout the chase.

Remaining unbeaten till the end, Rahul ended up scoring 71* (57) with the help of six fours and a six. The right-hand batsman had initially received a lot of flak because of his low strike rate.

With him playing with utmost responsibility, he made sure that he didn’t lose his wicket especially after getting his eye in. Having completed his half-century in 46 balls, Rahul played an anchor role in Kings XI Punjab winnings their first home match.

KXIP vs MI Man of the Match

When Kings XI gave impressions of struggling with the run rate, it was Mayank Agarwal who attacked the opposition bowlers to will to make sure that his team does not lack behind much in the chase. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the eighth over, Agarwal scored his first boundary in the same over off Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya.

In the next three balls which he faced, Agarwal scored three boundaries against Mayank Markande and Krunal Pandya. Severe against the left-arm spinner, Agarwal hit a couple of sixes in his following overs to bring back Punjab into the match.

Before getting out to Krunal in the 14th over, Agarwal ended up scoring 43 (21) with the help of four fours and two sixes and was declared the Man of the Match.
