Lewis Hamilton has claimed his 5th World Title, beating that initial stiff challenge from Ferrari this season and inching closer to the 7 world title mark held by Michael Schumacher.
Hamilton was thankful as ever after the 5th title became a reality in Mexico this weekend, admitting that the feat has to be the most humbling experience of his life.
For a man who did not quite have the riches possessed by others in the field, Hamilton has admirably worked his way up, coming close to a title in his rookie year and then dominating the field with Mercedes in the last few seasons.
With 5 world titles to his name, there have been suggestions of Hamilton being bestowed with knighthood, as his achievements are worthy enough of the honour.
Talk about knighthood had sprung even in 2017, when Hamilton equalled Vettel’s record of 4 world titles, but it wasn’t the case to be.
Lewis is the most successful British driver in the history of F1 and could be eligible for knighthood this time round, but when quizzed about it, Hamilton has admitted that he isn’t really thinking about it.
Lewis Hamilton deserves a knighthood. I can’t tweet the queen and don’t believe the government plays no part in awarding. Come on especially this year with all the Brexit problems please make sure we celebrate a true British sporting icon and a legend.

“Honestly that is really not something that is on my mind, and not something I’m even contemplating,” Hamilton said.
“I’ve been very fortunately and very grateful to have met the Queen on a couple of occasions, which I’m just grateful for.
“I’m very proud, I don’t know if you notice that sometimes, when I’m on the podium I look back and see the Union Jack and I’m very proud to raise that flag, and which I’ll continue to do so. And hopefully try to make more and more Brits proud.
Lewis Hamilton F1 Legend winning formula One five times World Champion , doesn't need a silly Knighthood from the non democratic institute The Royal Family #honorslist Just Lewis not Sir Lewis Mailton sounds like the last century not the 21st century pic.twitter.com/833pl3HBJk

“At the moment, a German has the most titles but I think I’m quite grateful and quite proud of the ones that we have as Brits and yeah, going to continue to try to raise the game.” he added.
Do you think Lewis Hamilton deserves to be knighted, now that he is comfortably ahead of Sir Jackie Steward, the only knighted British F1 driver(he won 3 world titles).
