Lewis Hamilton is going into the Monaco GP in a positive frame of mind, as he leads the drivers standing by 17 points and is now thrilled by the return of grid girls for the Monaco GP.
Tag Heuer last night confirmed that grid girls will be back in attendance during the Monaco GP, much to the delight of a ‘few’ F1 fans and Lewis Hamilton.
“I think women are the most beautiful thing in the world,” Hamilton said.
“When we pull up on the grid and there is beautiful women on the grid, that’s the Monaco Grand Prix, that’s a lovely thing.
“But I definitely don’t think we should ever be supporting or pushing these women in general to feel uncomfortable and if they are then they shouldn’t do it.” he added.
A few fans feel that this is a backward step in working towards ‘gender equality’ in the world, the major reason why Liberty Media got rid of the grid girls in favour of grid kids.
However, Sebastian Vettel too has come out in support of Hamilton’s comments, as he feels that only girls who actually want to be ‘grid girls’ take up the job.
“I think the whole thing has been blown up because I don’t think any of the grid girls in the past were forced to do it,” Vettel said.
“I think they enjoyed what they were doing.
“I agree with Lewis – I like women, I think they look beautiful. If it was guys I was just not interested.
“Nothing against those guys, I just didn’t care as much!
“But bottom line I think it’s too much of a fuss nowadays. I think all the women that took part as a grid girl in the past did it because they want to.
“I’m sure you ask any grid girl on Sunday whether they’re happy to stand there the answer will be ‘yes’.
“I don’t think there’s anybody that forces them to do it. It speaks a little bit of our times that sometimes there’s a lot of noise for nothing.” he added
