Liverpool Transfer News: Liverpool monitor ex-player's situation in hope to make his return

Liverpool Transfer News: Liverpool are monitoring ex-player Philippe Coutinho’s situation at Barcelona, as he is set to be offloaded.

Barcelona are ready to offload Philippe Coutinho this summer, after an underwhelming season by the Brazilian International has compelled the Catalan giants to look for suitable customers for him.

In response, Liverpool have shown interest in their former player. According to a report by the Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are monitoring Coutinho’s situation at Barcelona.

On the other side, Barcelona are trying their trade to include him in a swap deal for Neymar to lower the cash needed to be included in the 27-year-old forward.

Whereas, Coutinho is also reportedly ready to leave the Blaugrana club, after being a central subject of intensive criticism by the Barcelona fans. It is further reported that Coutinho personally prefers to go back to the Premier league instead of joining Les Parisiens.

Thus, Liverpool are aware of Coutinho’s situation, and are willing to bank on the 26-year-old midfielder. Coutinho was planned to play a crucial role in Jurgen Klopp’s plans, but he opted to leave for Barcelona.

Although, if Coutinho makes a return to the Merseyide club, then he will surely be a viable option for the German manager. Liverpool need to negotiate with Barcelona for the price, as the Brazilian midfielder is the costliest player in the Spanish Champions’ history.

But considering Coutinho already consumes a huge portion of Barcelona’s financial resources. The Catalan club might agree to lower his buyout fee in order to afford the services of both Neymar and Antoine Griezmann this summer. Additionally, Barcelona still owe £30 million to Liverpool in variables, which might help the case of the Kopites.

Presently, Barcelona have reportedly claimed that Coutinho is not for sale but since the summer transfer window is still open, these speculations cannot be discarded.
