Man Utd transfer news: United face embarrassment in Tanguy Ndombele transfer move

Tanguy Ndombele is one of the top targets for Man Utd in the summer. However, the club faces a tough task in convincing the midfielder to join the side.

Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table. The side is in a four-team battle for the top-4 race, which includes Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea.

While the Old Trafford outfit remains three points behind Spurs, both Arsenal and Chelsea are ahead by two points.

With the side facing Barcelona in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, the road towards the qualification of Europe’s premier tournament has grown increasingly difficult for Manchester United.

And according to L’Equipe, this is the reason why the club is facing difficulty in convincing a major transfer target, Tanguy Ndombele to come to Old Trafford.

Tanguy Ndombele to Man Utd:

The midfielder is linked with a move away from Lyon in the summer. L’Equipe reports that some of the Europe’s elite clubs, which include Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, are already in contact with the player over a potential transfer.

The report states that Ndombele wants to make it to Euro 2020 with France, and hence, the midfielder is considering significant measures before choosing a club for the future.

Ndombele signed for Lyon in 2017 for 10m euros, but his present market value stands at 70m to 80m euros.

Manchester United are also in the race to sign the midfielder in the summer. However, the club could face a hard time in convincing Ndombele to sign.

According to the report, the midfielder wants assurances that the club should be fighting for the Premier League and the Champions League titles. Manchester United, however, have hardly been in the race for the league ever since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Last season, United finished 2nd in the league, but were a whopping 19 points behind the winners Manchester City. In Europe, the club’s highest finish since Ferguson’s retirement was a quarterfinal loss to Bayern Munich.

The next few weeks would define Manchester United’s season, as well as their performance in the transfer market in the summer.
