Man Utd vs PSG: Four major first-team stars are feared out of the round-of-16 Champions League clash against Man Utd due to injury.

Manchester United have been in fine form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The side climbed to fourth position in the Premier League table with a win over Fulham last weekend. However, they await the result of the game between Chelsea and Manchester City to determine their final position at the end of the game-week.

PSG, however, have had a reversal of fortunes. After receiving a major blow in January with an injury to Neymar and Marco Verratti, the side is now dealing with two another major first-team absences.

The side remains at the top of the Ligue 1 with a comfortable 13-point gap over the second-placed LOSC but face another worrisome night in the Champions League without their superstars.

Man Utd vs PSG: Injury blow as four first-team stars feared out:

Marco Verratti picked up an injury last month during the game against Guingamp. While his availability is yet to be confirmed, initial reports suggest that the player will not be able to complete 90 minutes on the pitch when PSG take on Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Neymar was ruled out for 10 weeks in January after facing another metatarsal injury and is currently undergoing his recovery process.

However, PSG have now confirmed injuries to Edinson Cavani and Thomas Meunier as well.

The club confirmed on Sunday that the striker has sustained damage to a tendon in his hip. PSG’s manager Thomas Tuchel earlier stated that the possibility of Cavani’s participation in the game against Manchester United is low.

“There is no good news for Edi this morning,” he said. “In my opinion the news is not going to be very good. It will be very difficult for him to play.”

PSG released a statement on Cavani’s injury.

“The tests carried out have shown an injury in the right hip. The treatment and the amount of recovery time will depend on how he reacts over the next few days,” the statement read.

Meunier, meanwhile, has had a ‘light concussion’.

“Thomas Meunier’s neurological examination confirmed a light concussion,” PSG wrote on their website.

“Thomas will be unavailable until his next neurological consultation at the end of the week.”
