Here are the Twitter reactions on dramatic aggregate victory for Spurs.
Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur played out an extraordinary game at the Etihad Stadium in the second leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals. Taking a slender lead of 1-0, Spurs knew that they would need to score to find any chance of progressing to the next round of the competition.
It was an entertaining game, to say the least. Within the first 20 minutes, the supporters witnessed five goals. Manchester City’s inform winger Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the 4th minute. But, Spurs hit back twice through their forward Heung Min Son who beat Citizens’ goalkeeper Ederson twice within four minutes to hand over the lead.
The lead in the game was cut short a minute later by Bernardo Silva pulled one back to give a glimmer of hope for the hosts. Raheem Sterling scored ten minutes later to equalize the score in the aggregate and put City in a position for a comeback. The first half ended 3-2, but Spurs still had the advantage because of the away goals rule.
Pep Guardiola’s men started the game on a higher tempo in the second half and took the lead in the two-legged tie for the first time when Sergio Aguero launched a powerful shot to beat Hugo Lloris in the near post. Spurs did not buckle under pressure and kept the possession to give themselves to bounce back into the game.
During the 73rd minute, Fernando Llorente scored from a set piece to hand over the lead in aggregate to Spurs. In the injury time, Sergio Aguero ran behind the defence of Spurs and passed the ball to Raheem Sterling. The English International took an excellent touch to slot it past the goalkeeper. The replay in the Video Assistant Referee suggested that Argentine International was in an offside position before making a run in behind of the defenders.
The majority of the stadium celebrated, but the agony fell when the referee referred the technology to overturn it, and rightfully so. This game will surely go down as one of the best Champions League games ever.

7 – @SpursOfficial are the seventh different English club to reach the semi-final of the Champions League since it was rebranded, meaning England has now had more unique semi-finalists than any other nation (Arsenal, Chelsea, Leeds, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd). Pride. #MCITOT

1. Guardiola didn’t deserve to qualify his Manchester City side because of his irritating arrogance.
2. Tottenham Hotspurs’ Pochettino is underrated because he isn’t animated & full of himself.
3. Spurs only have to keep believing, and they will win trophies#MCITOT pic.twitter.com/8aNwzPez8r— Parker (@CParkers10) April 17, 2019
