With Marouane Fellaini set to leave, Manchester United shift their focus on Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Manchester United have been quite busy in the summer transfer window. The club has already completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred, and Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot. They are also heavily linked with a move for Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur.

With so many in-bound transfers, the club is also set to have some departures. Matteo Darmian is reportedly in talks with Juventus for a potential transfer. Anthony Martial’s agent also spoke about the player’s unease at not being a first team player ever since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January.

Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini is also yet to sign a new contract with the club, with the current one expiring in five days. This has led to Manchester United entering the transfer market for another midfielder.

According to Express (who quoted Manchester Evening News), Jose Mourinho wants to replace Fellaini with a box-to-box midfielder, and has identified Lorenzo Pellegrini as his replacement. United are highly interested in signing the 22-year old Roma midfielder.

Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing Segrej Milinkovic-Savic. However, they now hold reservations against the move due to midfielder’s expensive price. The Serbian midfielder is valued at a whooping €100m, which has led to a change of mind for Mourinho.

According to Express, the club doesn’t want to spend such a big amount for a player who hasn’t played a single Champions League game yet.

Lorenzo Pellegrini, on the other hand, has impressed some of the top European clubs with his performances for AS Roma. The Italian midfielder signed for Roma only last summer, and has made 36 appearances for the club.
