The Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio has reportedly ruled out joining United or Chelsea. The attacker further insists that he is more than happy at the Spanish capital.
After making a strong start to the season by scoring in back to back Spanish Super Copa victories against Barcelona, things haven’t gone according to plan for Asensio. With very few starts under his name, his role has been mainly constricted to the bench.
Even with Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lucas Vasquez struggling with form and Gareth Bale plagued with injuries, Zidane still hasn’t favoured the 21-year-old to start regularly for Madrid.

With limited playing time, there were rumours about the Spaniard leaving the Spanish capital with Chelsea and Manchester United in the fray. Reports emerged of United’s interest in Asensio after their hopes of signing Bale have faded away who has been a long-term target.
With Eden Hazard’s uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea too were also looking to sign the mercurial winger.
However, Marco Asensio has rubbished all the rumours and dismissed any talk about him leaving Madrid and insists he is completely happy at the club.
“It is difficult to manage a squad as good as our one, but Zidane knows he can count on me” Asensio told Club del Deportista.
He added “I work hard every day to earn more minutes, but I am aware of where I am. I am at the best club in the world and I am happy at Real Madrid.”
The shocking revelation:

Although there had been a shocking revelation in August, wherein it was reported that Asensio almost ended up at the Camp Nou instead of Madrid but Barcelona weren’t ready to match his price tag which was reportedly €3.5m.
Looking at today’s crazy transfer market €3.5m does sound like a bargain for a player of Asensio’s calibre. Barcelona must surely be regretting not spending a mere €3.5m and missing out on the Spanish attacker.
Asensio’s agent revealed, “Barca said, ‘No, we’re not able [to match your price tag].’ They lost the opportunity. When they changed their mind after three months it was too late.”
However, the dust has settled on all the rumours and news with Asensio perfectly fine at Real Madrid and looking forward to continuing working with Zidane.
