Maurizio Sarri replacement: Chelsea shortlist six managers as Sarri's successor at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have shortlisted six candidates as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri indicated his desire to leave the club following the Europa League triumph. The Blues board is ready to grant his move to Juventus in the upcoming days as Roman Abramovich shortlists six managers.

According to Mirror, the shortlisted six managers are Erik Ten Hag, Frank Lampard, Massimiliano Allegri, Steve Holland, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Javi Gracia. All these managers are realistic candidates, however, the incoming manager will have nothing to spend until next summer window because of the transfer ban.

Erik Ten Hag has signalled his indication about his desire to continue at Ajax, but he has not entirely ruled out a move. Frank Lampard joined as Derby County boss last season and missed out on the Premier League spot in the playoffs final.

Massimiliano Allegri parted ways with Juventus following the Champions League failure, whilst Steve Holland is the current assistant to Ronald Koeman at Netherlands national team. Nuno Santo and Javi Gracia have punched about their weight with Wolves and Watford respectively.

Maurizio Sarri matched their expectations by finishing in the top four and landing a silverware last season, but he was infuriated by the treatment among the fans and media throughout the campaign. Following the triumph in Bake, Sarri said that he deserves to continue at Chelsea, but the ship has sailed.

Chelsea have appealed to Court of Arbitration for Sport against their transfer ban, but they have not asked for the ban to be frozen while appealing. The transfer ban is most likely to stay and Chelsea could have a tough season ahead of themselves.

The transfer ban means that the incoming manager will have to work without Eden Hazard’s replacement. The Belgian International was the mainstay in Chelsea’s attack for over six years.

Maurizio Sarri’s departure looks like a formality and these six have reportedly been touted as his replacement at Stamford Bridge.
