Messi-Ronaldo stats 2018/19

Messi-Ronaldo stats 2018/19: While both the players have been key to their side’s brilliant performances this season, Messi has been better on stats.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been brilliant for their sides this season.

Ronaldo left for Juventus in the summer transfer window. However, it didn’t take time for him to adjust to football in Italy as he is the highest goalscorer for Juventus across all competitions.

Real Madrid have fairly struggled in Ronaldo’s absence. The side, under Julen Lopetegui suffered its worst goalless run in the club’s history. The arrival of Santiago Solari, however, has saved the sinking ship to a certain extent at this part of the season.

Messi, meanwhile, continues to shine for Barcelona. The Barca captain is the top goalscorer in La Liga and has contributed to almost half of the goals Barcelona have scored this season.

So, how do the two top players in world football compare through stats?

Messi-Ronaldo stats 2018/19:

Betting side “bet365” posted the stats comparing Messi and Ronaldo’s season so far. The stats clearly indicate Lionel Messi’s dominance in the season so far.

Here are the overall stats between the two players at this point of the season:

  • Goals: Lionel Messi – 29, Cristiano Ronaldo – 17
  • Assists: Lionel Messi – 14, Cristiano Ronaldo – 7
  • Key Passes: Lionel Messi – 89, Cristiano Ronaldo – 44
  • Dribbles: Lionel Messi – 96, Cristiano Ronaldo – 33
  • MOTM: Lionel Messi – 13, Cristiano Ronaldo – 7

It is worth noting that Messi was out for three weeks due to injury in October last year.

The Barca star rescued a point for the side against Valencia last weekend, as the side recovered from 0-2 with Messi’s brace.

Cristiano Ronaldo also scored a brace in the game against Parma, which included a towering header in the second half. However, Parma secured a late comeback through Gervinho in an eventful 3-3 draw.

Barcelona take on their arch-rivals Real Madrid in the semifinal of the Copa del Rey later this week. Messi remains a doubt for the game.

Juventus, meanwhile, will face Sassuolo on Sunday.
