The Portuguese player was never on the table for the club, says Mourinho on Ronaldo returning to United.
Manchester United registered a comfortable 2-0 victory against Burnley on Sunday night. Mourinho’s men have struggled since the start of the season, as the club lost two of their first three matches, including a 3-0 loss at Old Trafford to Tottenham.
United, however, will head on to international break with three points in the bag. Mourinho’s side looked strong on the attack and were solid at the back, as the inclusion of Fellaini helped the defenders negate ariel threats.
After the match, Jose Mourinho approached the fans and shook hands with a few, before heading down the tunnel. He later spoke to the media for the post-match interview.
He took potshots at the journalists criticising him since the beginning of the season.
“I am delighted and some of you in the media must be disappointed,” said Jose.
Manchester United have drawn Juventus in the Champions League group stage, and will see the return of Ronaldo to Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo has played against Manchester United only once in the tournament since leaving the club in 2009.
Mourinho was asked about the possibility of Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United.
“Ronaldo returning to Manchester United? Cristiano was never on the table for me to say yes or no to. Never.

“Cristiano will like coming back as he was happy to come back when he was at Madrid. But he comes back to do a job for them, like he did for Madrid.
He’s still a top player, unless he fails to score this weekend and you tell me he’s not good anymore!”
Manchester United have climbed up to 10th position with the victory at Turf Moor, and will now play against the high-flying Watford on September 15th, who beat Tottenham Hotspur in another Sunday night game.
