MS Dhoni explains Ambati Rayudu’s best batting position
The returning team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a great start to the IPL as they are at the top of the points table. They have won 4 games out of 5 so far and have the best net run rate among all teams. In their last match, they came out on top in top of the table clash against SRH
CSK didn’t quite get off to the most ideal start after being put into bat, as they registered the lowest total in power play of the season so far.
Ambati Rayudu along with Suresh Raina geared up the innings to take the CSK side to a total of 182 runs. Rayadu hit 79 runs off just 39 deliveries and Raina’s 54 came in 43 balls which made him the highest run scorer of the IPL again.
Rayudu had opened for CSK in the previous matches but Faf Du Plessis’ inclusion in the playing XI forced him to bat at No. 4.
CSK fans would be wondering as to where he would bat in the IPL now, after being used in both roles this year. MS Dhoni has revealed that despite his success in both position, he would like to see him as an opener.
“Rayudu has been fantastic. One of the questions was where do we play him? And I have seen him bat up the order at No. 3. Whenever he plays the big shots, he maintains shape, which is very important. He can bat at all numbers, but I’d prefer to see him an opening, where he looks very dangerous”, said Dhoni.
CSK have been on a roll this season with different batsmen stepping up during different games to take the franchise over the line. Who do you think it will be next time?
