Following the race at Texas Motor Speedway, the Hendrick Motorsports team had all the reasons to celebrate. Not only did William Byron win his 6th race of the season and make his way into the round of eight, but NASCAR’s most successful team also became the first team to reach 300 Cup Series wins in the sport.

After the celebrations concluded with Byron on victory lane, team boss Rick Hendrick spoke to the media and expressed his thoughts on reaching such a major NASCAR milestone.
Rick Hendrick talks about recent Hendrick Motorsports achievement
Speaking with Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass, Hendrick shared his thoughts about achieving their 300th race win. He stated, “Really did a great job all day all our cars were fast… Didn’t know that didn’t think the #24 was gonna be up there and they worked their way up there through pits sequence.”
“Then Kyle was so strong I thought he’d just drive away but Bubba ran him pretty hard there and I guess he could have lifted a little bit Kyle could have… That’s what that’s what Larson does. That’s what I love about him. He’s driving wheels off of every lap and so real proud of him.”

“But William Byron has six wins this year and seeing Chase (Elliott) up in the top-10 top-five in last two-three races that’s a good sign for you know, finishing the year strong winning the race. So yeah, I’d say I was hot… When I got off the box and then I thought my knees were weak after watching…”
Additionally, he was also asked about the significance of achieving 300 wins for Hendrick Motorsports. The HMS boss reflected on the memories of reaching 100 and 150 wins and how he never thought of getting to this number.
But with the current lineup and team members, Hendrick believes that they will continue to win many more races in the future. He also mentioned that the team’s goal is to remain competitive every week, which has been his personal philosophy since his early racing days.
William Byron clinches sixth win of the season at Texas
After an amazing final restart effort, Byron managed to outrun both Bubba Wallace and Ross Chastain on his way to grab the checkered flag, securing his place in the round of 8 for the playoffs. The #24 driver has been the standout driver in what is proving to be the breakout season for him.
Now with the Texas round over, all eyes are set on the upcoming race at Talladega Superspeedway. Can Byron grab his seventh win this season, or will it be someone else from Hendrick Motorsports camp or just someone else entirely?
Considering the position Kyle Larson was in with 20 laps to go, no one will be surprised if the 2021 Cup Series champion takes home either of the next two races in this round.
