Dale Earnhardt Jr. Comes Hard on “Most Miserable Thing Ever” About NASCAR Cup Series

Fans frequently forget that their NASCAR heroes behind the wheel are also just ordinary people like the rest of us. Regardless of their on-track victories and championship titles, these high-profile figures lead personal lives that often mirror our own. Recently, former Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr gave us a glimpse into his everyday struggles as a father.

Attempting to put one of his children to sleep proved to be both a comedic and slightly heartbreaking ordeal for him. Jr. might be one of the most successful NASCAR personalities, but for his children, he is just a man.

Dale Earnhardt Jr shares how his feelings were hurt while parenting

Similar to any other parent, Junior and his wife often find themselves immersed in the routine of putting their children to bed. However, during an episode of his podcast, the NASCAR Hall of Famer recounted a particular incident where one of his daughters seemingly did not want him to tuck her in. This experience, he shared, had hurt his feelings.

He narrated, “Me and Amy trade off every other night putting Isla to bed. Putting Isla to bed is going in there reading a book, laying down and she falls asleep in 15 seconds. And we trade off, Amy does one night, I do the next. But Isla never wants me to do it. She always wants Amy to do it. And Isla and I were sitting on the couch last night. She’s laughing about something, we are giggling and carrying on and having a great time. But it’s time for bed, and she’s getting tired.”

“Amy takes Nichole up to bed, and Isla sees that and she goes ‘Who’s taking me to bed tonight?’ I know what she is thinking and I say, ‘You know it’s my night. Momma took you to bed last night…’ ‘Oh, why can’t Mama take me to bed’. And I’m like what is it I am doing? Am I not reading the book right?… Does Mama read the book better than me?… Amy comes back downstairs and Isla gets up and walks over there and starts talking under her breath. ‘Can you take me to bed’… So yes, my feelings got hurt.”

How many children does Junior have?

Dale Jr. met his wife Amy Reimann (now, Earnhardt) back in 2009, while actively racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. It then took six long years for Junior to propose to her. Thereafter, the couple tied the knot in December 2016, marking a new chapter in their lives together.

Following his retirement from the Cup Series a year later, Junior shifted gears from being a celebrated NASCAR driver to focusing on family life. The couple welcomed their first bundle of joy in April 2018, marking another milestone in their journey together.

Today, Junior and Amy are proud parents to two adorable daughters. Their firstborn, Isla Rose, was followed by their second daughter, Nicole Loraine, in October 2020. The joy of parenthood has been an extraordinary ride for them, and they haven’t looked back since.
