18 Years After Shaquille O’Neal Threatened His Neighbors With $5000 Fine, Nischelle Turner Calls Him Out for Hypocritical ‘Sage Advice’

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the ‘wisest’ people in the NBA. That statement isn’t exactly true, but not false as well. To be fair, it depends on the version of Shaq you get that day. You can get the biggest troll known to mankind or the wisest person. We saw both of his sides show up for the Big Podcast this week. During the episode, he tried giving some sage advice to Nischelle Turner regarding her neighbors, which his co-host didn’t take very well.

Instead, Turner called Shaq out for his hypocrisy and reminded him how 18 years ago, he almost got his neighbor fined $5000. The Big Diesel tried to explain his side of the story, but by then, the appeal of Shaq’s profoundness was lost on his co-hosts.

Shaquille O’Neal shares profound words to help Nischelle Turner from turning into a Karen

A Karen, for those of you who don’t know it, is a middle-aged woman who not only nitpicks every aspect of her life but also those surrounding her, even if it doesn’t concern her. At the start of this week’s episode of the Big Podcast, Shaquille O’Neal and Spice Adams were joking about Nischelle being a Karen.

She initially disputed it but then brought up how she’s a Karen in her neighborhood. Nischelle explained how she moved into a new house, and everything is great. However, there is one neighbor that doesn’t maintain their house or their lawn. Talking about how this might bring her property value down, Turner shared how she’d been taking photos for the Neighborhood Association. Laughing about the same, Shaq said,

“The key word is gotta. I don’t gotta cut my grass. I’ll cut it when I want to. If I want to paint my house green, I’ll paint it whatever. You need to stop worrying about all the other stuff and worry about your own property. Stuff you can’t control, you shouldn’t worry about. Takes up brain space. The older you get, the more your brain space start to shrink. Leave them people alone. That’s their house, let them do what they want.”

That’s pretty solid advice from the big man, won’t you agree? However, Nischelle wasn’t having it. She brought up the time when Shaq used to give his neighbors tickets and act as the Neighborhood police.

Shaq once threatened his neighbors with a $5000 fine

In 2005, Shaquille O’Neal was living in Miami. He lived in a $16 Million house on Star Island. There Shaq customized the house to suit his lifestyle, but it did not sit well with the neighbors. He installed floodlights, which according to the neighbors, killed the views from their condos because of how bright the lights were.

While Shaq did not listen about turning off the lights, one of the neighbors took a spotlight and pointed it at Shaq, which resulted in a threat of a $5000 ticket.

“I got a spotlight myself and shined it on him last night and today knocking on my door was code enforcement from the city of Miami and the city of Miami Beach, threatening to cite me and that I would be fined $5,000 if I did it again.”

I guess things have changed in the 18 years since the incident, and Shaq has matured. Or maybe the Big Diesel is just putting up his wise side right now, and the wild side was taking a break.
