2022 #1 Pick Paolo Banchero Discusses Victor Wembanyama, Heaps Praise on 7ft 2" Magic Teammate Bol Bol

The 2022/2023 NBA has seen the emergence of a number of talents. However, none is as unique and distinctive as Orlando Magic forward Bol Bol. They say the environment you’re situated in is paramount to your success.

One will only be able to thrive in a welcoming circumstance. The best examples of this idiom are Andrew Wiggins and DeMar DeRozan. Their respective career renaissance has been alluring to watch.

The son of the late great Manute Bol, Bol Bol arrived in the NBA in 2019 as a late 44th pick in the second round of the draft. Having initially joined the Denver Nuggets, the 23-year-old never quite settled into the franchise.

Having barely been awarded minutes over the course of three long years, Bol found it strenuous to be successful there.

This year, however, the American-Sudanese forward has found himself a home with the rapidly emerging Orlando Magic. His teammate and 2022 number-one draft pick Paolo Banchero’s statement is a testament to that.

Paolo Banchero arrives at the defense of Bol Bol!

The Orlando Magic protagonist has been on for a year as a rookie, creating records as the season progresses. Banchero is currently averaging 22.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 14 games this season.

A magnificent start to his NBA career. However, the 20-year-old opted to not be the topic of conversation in this instance and has rather chosen to heap praise on teammate Bol Bol.

The NBA is no stranger to the marketing and promotion of elite prospects. The treatment of highly touted 2023 prospect, Victor Wembanyama is an attestation to that. Albeit, Wembanyama is absolutely deserving of that. From the looks of it, the 18-year-old could define generations to come, and in the process establish himself as the greatest of all time.

However, just like Wembanyama, Bol Bol is a stellar talent as well. And has the backing of his teammates to prove that. Speaking about Bol, Banchero had a fascinating and exceptional response about his colleague.

Speaking about Bol, Banchero stated-

“Everyone talks about the Victor dude from France. I’m not trying to compare them, but Bol’s 7-foot-2, shoots threes, brings it up the court, makes passes, and blocks shots. I feel like people kind of forget about him, but Bol’s a freak of nature.”

Bol Bol’s Orlando Magic career so far!

Orlando acquired Banchero as the number one draft pick earlier this year as part of their highly anticipated rebuild. As substantial as Banchero has been, the addition of Banchero meant the arrival of Bol Bol went under the radar.

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old has become a beacon of light for the people of Orlando. Bol, despite being awarded under 30 minutes per game, has excelled and solidified himself as a core member of the roster.

Bol is averaging 13.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 21 games this season.

This is a perfect example of what could occur when an athlete is placed in a conducive environment, which enables him to succeed. The potential the 7’2 forward has will be a riveting sight to watch for years to come.
