During the 2022 offseason, Harden was rumored to have taken a massive pay cut in order to help the franchise build a Championship-competing roster. In return, the front office might have agreed to reward him with a larger contract. This free agency, the promises made to the southpaw were not fulfilled. Morey even promised to get the 2018 Most Valuable Player traded, but has shown no signs of pulling off any deal yet. A frustrated Harden decided to speak up and get fined $100,000 for his actions. Now, despite the Sixers’ request, the 10-time All-Star has reportedly refused to join the training camp later in October.
