Before Adopting Michael Jordan’s Hobby During the 2022 Finals, Stephen Curry Set Sight on MJ’s ‘Single-Day Hole Record’: “I’mma Try to Beat That”

Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players to step on the basketball court. Perhaps one of the few players a step above him is none other than the GOAT, Michael Jordan. But, off the court, Curry and Jordan aren’t that far apart and even share a love for golf. In fact, prior to his Finals MVP performance in the 2022 NBA Finals, Steph was spotted hitting the courses. And, a year prior to that, he even sat down with MJ during the 2021 Ryder Cup, where they talked about golf and His Airness’ incredible single-day hole record.

The Baby-Faced Assassin managed to lead the Golden State Warriors to an NBA Championship back in 2022. It was the fourth of his career and one that propelled him into the conversation of all-time greats. But, before he made history, Steph decided to relax, as he was spotted with his golf clubs just a day or two before the Finals commenced.

Stephen Curry has his eye on Michael Jordan and his single-day hole record

Back in 2021, Stephen Curry sat down with Michael Jordan at the Ryder Cup. The two discussed their love for the sport of golf, and it was here that MJ brought up an interesting record. Having played the sport for close to 35 years now, His Airness has played several rounds of golf.

However, when asked how many holes he has played in one day, he provided an answer that left Curry shocked. By Jordan’s estimate, the number of holes he’s played is 63. An incredible number, that Steph could only gawk at.

That being said, Chef Curry is not one to back down from a challenge. Upon hearing the number, Steph boldly claimed he would try and beat it one day. Only for Jordan to snigger and wish him good luck.

Curry: “What’s the most amount of holes you played in one day?”

Jordan: “Oooh!…about…63!”

Curry: “Damn!”

Jordan: “Yeah I was rolling…63…I was younger!”

Curry: “I’m gonna try and beat that one!”

Jordan: “Good luck!”

It may be a while before Curry actually manages to beat MJ’s record. But, when he does, you can bet that the six-time NBA Champion will be the first person he calls and brags to.

Steph claims there are a lot of common lessons taught in both golf and basketball

It is well known, that Stephen Curry is an avid golfer. He has been playing the sport for quite a while, and in that time has become exceptionally good at it. It’s almost to the point where he could probably switch sports and no one would realize. But, why is this? Well, according to Steph there are a lot of similar lessons taught in both golf and basketball.

In particular, he pointed out the need to have a “next shot” mentality in both sports and the need to get into the “flow” in order to succeed.

Looks like Steph is all set to become a pro golfer once he’s done playing basketball. And, given how well he’s performed at the amateur level, he could really become one of the best.
