“Being with Larry Bird was Like Being on a Tropical Island”: Bill Walton’s Hilarious Confession on Surviving Cold Weather in Boston
The 1980s were dominated by two teams. The LA Lakers with Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird from French Lick Indian in the Boston Celtics. Bird, in particular, was a nightmare to deal with.
If you were on the opposing team, Larry was the last person you would wish to face. But, if you’re his friend then it is one of the best things in the world.
Take, for example, Bill Walton. The veteran center who enjoyed being in Boston. Why? Because Larry Legend was there for the ride, speculating how he would torch his next opponent.
Larry Bird spent a lot of his free time thinking about how he was going to torch his opponents
If there was one thing Larry Bird is remembered for, it is just how seriously he took the game of basketball. The 6ft 9″ forward lived and breathed the sport.
So much so, that he would imagine exactly what he was going to do to his opponents before every match. Just ask Bill Walton, according to whom, Boston was an amazing team to play for, simply because Bird was there.
This Larry Bird story brought to you by Bill Walton.

Walton would spend his free time in Boston hanging out with Larry. While Larry would spend the same, thinking of ways to torch his opponents.
Talk about dedication. Then again, Larry Legend was known for having some of the most creative ways of trash-talking players.
Larry Bird would tell his opponents what he was going to do as a form of trash talk
Many consider Larry Bird to be one of the greatest players of all time. His scoring, defense, and shooting all contributed to this, but his trash-talking is some of the most unique trash-talking in leave history. Why? Because Bird would tell his opponents what he was going to do before actually doing it. Leaving them stunned!
Larry Bird always backed up his trash talk.

He truly was a legend of the sport. Safe to say there will never be anyone quite like Larry Legend.
