The Russell Westbrook for John Wall trade is being characterized as a ‘trade that no team won’. Houston knew that they couldn’t win with the Harden-Westbrook tandem.
Washington on the other hand, didn’t have high hopes for John Wall as he hasn’t played an NBA game in 708 days. This trade must’ve come as a surprise to Wall as merely 10 days prior, Washington’s front office claimed they weren’t looking to trade him.
The Wizards however, are obviously the team that benefitted more from this exchange of point guards. This is solely because of the fact that Russell Westbrook hasn’t been out due to injury for more than 2 years.
Russell Westbrook likes his chances at a championship alongside Bradley Beal
Bradley Beal is coming off a career year where he averaged nearly 31 points per game. He has proven he can be a true 3-level scorer in today’s league.
Russell Westbrook has been quite high on Bradley Beal ever since the trade went down. Westbrook said, “Bradley Beal is a superstar talent. He showed that last year.”

When asked about the Wizards’ championship aspirations, Russ said that they are very much possible. He believes the Wizards have a very high chance at hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of this season.
Can the Washington Wizards win the championship next season?
One thing the Wizards have that will be beneficial to the 2017 MVP’s game, the amount of shooters. Davis Bertans, Beal, Thomas Bryant, these are all players who can respectably space the floor.
Westbrook is also no stranger to playing with offensively talented wings, such as James Harden, Kevin Durant, Paul George, and now Bradley Beal.
The Wizards would have to focus of making it to the Eastern Conference Finals before thinking about winning it all. The Wall-Beal tandem was a Game 7 victory away from making it to the ECF, back in 2017.
