CJ McCollum dishes out ‘I Broke my back spinal’ Mike Tyson quote in Grizzlies win post-game interview
Injured CJ McCollum dishes out the iconic Mike Tyson ‘I broke my back spinal’ interview quote, sending Blazers and Tyson fans in frenzy with his wit.
The Trailblazers have secured the playoff spot with a win 126-122 win against the Memphis Grizzlies. 28-year-old CJ McCollum, who has been playing with a back injury, came second in scoring 29 points for the Blazers.
A couple of days back, news broke in that McCollum had been playing with a lower back fracture in the Bubble, something that was hampering his movement and overall play.
However, he decided not undergo surgery and complete rest, as he felt he owed it to his franchise and the to the city of Portland. While it is risky to play with a fractured back, but McCollum and Blazers medical staff feel that if he is feeling healthy and alright with his movement, he can go ahead with it.
CJ McCollum’s ‘I broke my back spinal’ Mike Tyson impression
Mike Tyson once came up with one of the most iconic post-fight interviews, when he revealed that he had a broken back and came up with the statement ‘I broke my back spinal’
McCollum, who seems to be a massive Tyson fan, saw the similarities and did not miss the opportunity to drop one of his greatest post-match moment ever.
Check out how the star reacted when asked about the injury and if he had any gas left in the tank for their playoff game against the Lakers.

His spot on Mike Tyson impression has become the talking point after this. A Reddit thread has already emerged speculating if and how Mike Tyson will respond to this. McCollum’s imitation of Tyson has captured the hearts of fans and many people agree that it is spot on.
The Blazers will face the might Los Angeles Lakers in their first game of the play-off on August 18th. This should give the team a day or two of well-deserved rest.
With LeBron and co. hungry for a title, it will be interesting to see how the red-hot Blazers go about their business against a weary Lakers Bubble side.
