“Congrats to my brother Drake!”: Lakers superstar LeBron James gives Canadian rapper his flowers for being named Artist of the Decade

LeBron James takes to Instagram to congratulate Drake for snagging the Artist of the Decade honors prior to the Lakers game vs the Suns.

There have been merely a few artists throughout the history of music in Western culture that have relished in a career as successful as Drake’s. The Toronto native is practically a cheat code when it comes to features, whether it was 2018’s ‘Yes Indeed’ alongside Lil Baby or 2013’s ‘F***in’ Problems’ alongside A$AP Rocky, Drake has always come through.

Not to mention the fact that his own albums like Scorpion and Views are highly touted for being some of the best work any artist has put out this past decade. It’s only fitting that the rapper who dominated BillBoard charts in the 2010s is close friends with the NBA superstar that dominated NBA hardwood in the 2010s, LeBron James.

LeBron James and Drake have been closely linked for years now, with the latter even bringing the reigning Finals MVP out on stage at a couple of his shows. The rapper has also attended several of James’s games, showing support for his Lakers like he did in their play in their play in game against Steph Curry and the Warriors.

LeBron James congratulates Drake on Instagram for winning Artist of the Decade.

Drake took center stage along with his son Adonis to talk about what led up to this point in his career. He claims to still be working things out but is clearly doing something right. LeBron James took to Instagram to congratulate his Drake on his accomplishment.

“Are we sure it’s luck?? Congrats to my brother for BillBoard Artist of the Decade! And guess what?? He’s not done yet!” said James. Drake responded in the comments by saying, “Thank you King! Time to lock in.”

Of course, LeBron James and the Lakers were far from locked in, in their first game against the Phoenix Suns as they lost 99-90 in an upset win as the Suns maintain homecourt advantage for the rest of the series.
