“Dang That’s Tough”: Ben Simmons’ Old Sweep Tweet Resurfaces As His Nets Get Swept By James Harden And Co.

Even without Joel Embiid’s presence on the floor, the Philadelphia 76ers grabbed a 96-88 win. Behind James Harden’s 17-point, 11-assist, and 8-rebound near triple-double outing, Doc Rivers’ boys won Game 4, sweeping the New York-based franchise in the first round of the playoffs.

Just moments after Mikal Bridges and co. suffered the 8-point loss, an old tweet from Ben Simmons has resurfaced on social media.

During the Aussie’s stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, the southpaw had put out a tweet when the Celtics handed uprooted them 4-0 in the Bubble Playoffs. Simmons’ tweet read:

Watching my team get swept hurt, and I don’t ever want to feel that way again.

NBA Twitter reacts as Ben Simmons fake promised to never get swept

Just a couple of years after Ben tweeted the same, the Nets suffer an embarrassing loss against his former team. The second sweep in back-to-back years.

Similar to Philly’s series sweep in 2020, Ben didn’t suit up in the 2023 playoffs due to a nerve impingement in his back.

However, as soon as Brooklyn was eliminated from the postseason, NBA Twitter erupted with reactions to Ben’s old tweet.

What were Simmons’ stats from the 2022-2023 season?

After sitting out the entire 2021-2022 season, the 3-time All-Star did suit up for 42 games this campaign.

Coming off the bench after the initial few weeks, the 2018 ROTY recorded 6.9/6.3/6.1 (all career lows).

Clearly, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Simmons puts in the work this offseason. However, one cannot blame the Nets’ front office if they do end up trading him.
