“Don’t hit me up now”: Ja Morant and an NBA reporter clear up a hilarious misunderstanding about the USA Basketball team on Twitter
Ja Morant clears up a hilarious misunderstanding with an NBA reporter about his feeling on Team USA ahead of the Olympics
At 21 years old, Ja Morant is already one of the most entertaining athletes in the NBA.
The young player has become the cornerstone of the Memphis Grizzlies and has already guided the franchise to the NBA playoffs. Quite simply, given his impact already, it is very plausible for the star to potentially be in consideration for the US National Team very soon. For this year though, the player wasn’t included in the list.
Initially, Bradley Beal and Jerami Grant were players that were sure to head to Tokyo for the Olympics. However, with both players entering health and safety protocols, their availability has been called into some serious question.
And from all this, a bit of a hilarious misunderstanding was born, when Morant posted a certain cryptic quote on Twitter.

“Don’t hit me up now”: Ja Morant’s tweet gets hilariously misinterpreted by an NBA reporter
For NBA players, it has become somewhat of a habit to post cryptic tweets from time to time. Sometimes, there is a purpose behind it, and fans need to read between the lines. Sometimes, it seems like they just want to stir up the NBA community a bit, but there is absolutely no purpose behind what they say. And it seems when Ja Morant posted this, he meant it to be the latter kind.
wasn’t hitting me up before, don’t hit me up now 🤝 …. i’m 🆒

Since this was posted around the time the Beal and Grant news was revealed, many believed that this was a cryptic message to the US Men’s team. And it seems Evan Barnes is no different.
I’m no mindreader but I’m paid to alert y’all on such things. Read between the lines as you will https://t.co/ril54eNxAO

As soon as he saw this though, Morant had to step in.
see that’s everybody problem right there 😂 if y’all thinking this tweet is about dat, it’s not .💯 i would’ve @ them . https://t.co/BfOwcf65Vb

Ahhhh Ja, you sweet, sweet man.
Now, we know that it is highly unlikely for the US team to now include Morant as a replacement. However, after this whole fiasco, we can’t help but be a bit curious about how he would perform alongside this team full of stars.
Maybe one day, we’ll all get to see it.
