"Ernie didn't have to do Shaq like that": NBA Fans react to EJ subtly roasting the Lakers legend while commenting on Nuggets' Shaq Harrison

Ernie Johnson roasts Shaq for his free throw woes after Nuggets star Shaq Harrison missed his free throw after throwing down a dunk.

The Denver Nuggets redeemed themselves against the Portland TrailBlazers last night as they avoided going down 0-2 by blowing Damian Lillard and co out, 128-109. The entirety of the Nuggets roster seemed to have contributed to the victory as guys like Facu Campazzo and Monte Morris provided the Nuggets with just the spark plug they needed to keep the Blazers at arm’s length.

Despite the fact that Damian Lillard dropped an otherworldly 42 points, it wasn’t enough to keep the Nuggets at bay as Nikola Jokic showed up and showed, as usual. The Serbian native dropped a casual 36 points along with a couple of his patented high-arching rainbow shots from beyond the arc.

The NBAonTNT crew looked to react to the Nuggets victory but were stopped mid-way for a brief moment due to Ernie hilariously taking a jab at Shaq.

Ernie pokes fun at Shaq for his history of missed free throws.

Whether he was a member of the Orlando Magic or of the Phoenix Suns, the most consistent part of Shaq’s game during his illustrious career was the fact that he was a dud at the charity stripe. Despite the fact that he’s made nearly 6000 career free throws, he’s attempted 11,252, bringing his career percentage to just over 50%.

With young Nuggets forward Shaq Harrison throwing down a dunk on CJ McCollum en route to the Nuggets victory, he was given a chance to turn it to a 3-point play as CJ had fouled him in the process. Unfortunately for Harrison, he missed the free throw which prompted Ernie to roll out the comparisons to the 4x champ.

This of course led to Kenny Smith, as usual, trying to defuse the ensuing laughter to carry on with the breakdown of the game, but you’ve got to hand it to Ernie; his quick thinking led to quite a hilarious joke at Shaq’s expense.
