"First Klay Thompson, Now Jimmy Butler": Oklahoma City Thunder Falls Prey to Yet Another All-NBA Record

Miami Heat vs. Oklahoma City Thunder—a game that was not great on paper, but something historical came out of it. Though Miami struggled to beat a young OKC team, they finally got the job done in the last moment and won by 1 point.

One look at the free throw column will tell you why it was historic. Miami was given 40 free throws, and they did not miss any of them. None! Everybody hit all of their FTs, and Jimmy Butler was the protagonist in this historic moment.

Hitting 23 free throws for the night, Butler scored 67% of his points from the charity stripe.

The Heat won the game solely based on their free throw shooting ability, but OKC will not be happy. This is not the first time they’ve been part of a history-making game, and all of them have been on the losing side.

Oklahoma City Thunder isn’t happy to be a part of history if it involves them on the losing side

The Oklahoma City Thunder has supreme luck when it comes to being embroiled in NBA history. The only thing is that they are on the receiving end. Rarely do you see one team getting battered regularly, but OKC seems to be one of them.

They aren’t a bad team by any means, but they just seem to have no luck becoming a statistic in NBA history.

Thunder fans cannot catch a break, always being the barn door to a battering ram. It all began when Klay Thompson went berserk and shot11 3-pointers in a playoff game. 2016 was a bad time to be an OKC fan because they got hit by history and then Kevin Durant jumped ship to Golden State.

Oklahoma did manage to revive itself quite well, until December 2021. Devonte Graham decided to throw a heartbreaker in the last second of the game, hitting the longest game-winner in history.

This isn’t even their biggest history-creating loss – They lost in spectacular fashion to the Grizzlies

Apart from the Game 6 WCF loss, all of their beatdowns have happened in the space of 2 years. This coincides with their tanking, and their rebuild phase.

But no team in a rebuild has ever had to go through such embarrassment. Unfortunately for Oklahoma, they have had to go through this over and over. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander may not want to be a part of this team anymore if they get beat like this on the regular.
