What Happened to Anthony Davis? 6ft 10″ Lakers Star Suffers ‘Possible Concussion,' Rolled Out of Game 5 in a Wheelchair

The Los Angeles Lakers came to San Francisco tonight for Game 5 against the Warriors. Up 3-1, the Lakers wanted to finish the series right here, but unfortunately couldn’t. After Anthony Davis provided a strong punch in the first half, his offense sizzled out in the 2nd half. Things went for the worse when AD had to exit Game 5 after he made contact with Kevon Looney.

The defending champions came out with a sense of urgency, and it showed. They hit 7 triples to start the game, but the Lakers stayed within striking distance. However, the game started slipping from their hands in the 2nd quarter.

With almost 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter, D’Angelo Russell attempted a layup and scored. The 6ft 10″ Lakers star and Kevon Looney were trying to box each other out, when AD caught an inadvertent elbow from Kevon Looney to the face.

Is Anthony Davis hurt?

Since he checked out of the game after taking the shot to the face, Anthony Davis was sitting on the bench for a bit. When the medical and training staff decided he can’t return to the game, they took him back to the locker room during another time-out.

After the time out, Chris Haynes of TNT reported that Anthony Davis was wheeled out in a wheelchair with a towel over his face.

Even before he was taken back to the locker room, the TNT casters were worried about a possible concussion. The NBA has strict rules when it comes to an impact on the face/head. If AD does end up in the NBA’s concussion protocol, it might mean doom for the Lakers.

What happens if AD has a concussion?

If Anthony Davis has a concussion, he would be put in the concussion protocol. The whole process of clearing checks and making the way back to court takes about a week or more.

If that is the case, AD’s presence for Game 6 and a possible Game 7 may be in serious jeopardy. However, things aren’t so bad, or at least Lakers’ Head Coach Darvin Ham is trying to convince us about it. He claimed that AD already seems to be doing better.

Let’s hope that is the case and AD is ready for Game 6.
