Having Robbed LeBron James, Referee Eric Lewis’ Celtics Connection Could Mean Bad News for Joel Embiid and Co.
Referee Eric Lewis has been appointed as the official for the upcoming Game 7 clash between the Boston Celtics and the Philadephia 76ers. It is bound to be an amazing game. However, given that Lewis will be in charge, there are a variety of reasons for both Joel Embiid and Co. to be concerned. He once robbed LeBron James and the Lakers earlier this season.
To kick things off, Lewis’ family is a big fan of the Boston Celtics. His wife tweeted out a picture of herself and the rest of the family in Jayson Tatum jerseys. This was around the time of the Lakers-Celtics game in Boston, which in and of itself was mind-boggling.
After all, Lewis, who was crew chief for the match pretty much robbed LeBron James and the Lakers of a win. His no-call following a clear foul by Tatum pretty much cost LA the game. All this together spells out “Bad News” for Embiid and the Sixers.
Joel Embiid will be concerned to see Eric Lewis in charge given what happened with LeBron James
Game 7 of the Sixer-Celtics series will decide who moves on to the Eastern Conference Finals. And, with it being held in the TD Garden, things are looking favorable for the Celtics. Joel Embiid and the 76ers will need to bring their A-game tonight.
However, homecourt advantage isn’t the only thing in The C’s favor. The game will also see Eric Lewis in charge. The same referee who “robbed” LeBron James and the Lakers the last time they were at the TD Garden.
His decision to not call a foul on Jayson Tatum in the dying embers of the game resulted in a Lakers loss. And, while this may just be speculation, the fact that his family is Celtics fans and that Boston is 21-3 in games refereed by him over the last four seasons, gives a sense of foreboding doom for Embiid and the Sixers faithful.

Hopefully, the 76ers will not have similar problems to The King. A situation like Patrick Beverley’s decision to show Lewis a camera angle would not be ideal.
Patrick Beverley tried to show Eric Lewis the error of his decision, earning him a technical foul
Speaking of that infamous game between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James wasn’t the only one annoyed with Eric Lewis. Even Patrick Beverley, his then-teammate was left irate. To the point, where he shoved a camera in Lewis’ face to show him the bad call. A move that earned him a technical.

Following the game, the NBA was forced to apologize to LeBron and Co. for the incident. Safe to say, it is something they would like to avoid heading into tonight’s game.
