“If I’m Luka Doncic, I Don’t Want LeBron James”: Shaquille O’Neal Shares NBA Analyst’s Take On Kyrie Irving Recruiting Lakers Star

LeBron James’ former teammate, Kyrie Irving has been rumored to be interested in facilitating a move for LeBron to join him and Luka Doncic in Dallas. Experts have divided opinions on the three superstars potentially playing in one team. NBA analyst Chris Broussard certainly thinks Luka wouldn’t want LeBron in his team. Shaquille O’Neal seems to agree with the Fox Sports analyst’s assessment.

Irving came to the Mavs on the trade deadline after putting in a trade request to the Nets. Mark Cuban felt that the point guard would help them get closer to a championship and provide Doncic some much-needed help. However, the Mavs fell short of even qualifying for the playoffs this year despite being fourth in the West at one point. The Texas team also lost Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, and 3 future picks to get Irving on the roster. Moreover, he is now an unrestricted free agent.

It wouldn’t hurt the Mavericks much if they gave Kyrie Irving an extension worth around his expectations. However, the players he would want to bring with him might drain Dallas’ resources. As of now, Kyrie reportedly wants his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James. However, Chris Broussard of FS1 believes it would be a bad idea for Luka Doncic to team up with James.

“If I’m Luka, I’m none too pleased with Kyrie. If I’m him I’d say, ‘I got this. We were rolling before the Kyrie trade & now he’s trying to rebuild the roster?! Trade Kyrie for some depth. This is my team,” said the veteran analyst on First Things First. He further explained how despite being James’ fan, the 24-year-old superstar would not want to share the court with him.

Meanwhile, Shaquille O’Neal shared the clip of Broussard’s take as a story on his Instagram.

Luka has publicly expressed on numerous occasions how big of a fan he was of James growing up. But it’s doubtful whether he would want to let go of the reins of the Mavs team by inviting King James over, even if it’s at the dusk of his career. Besides, it’s very difficult to accommodate three max players in a single team under the current CBA stipulations.

Irving, on the other hand, is reportedly looking for a reunion with his 2016 NBA champion teammate to get himself another ring.

Mark Cuban could finally have LeBron playing for his team

Back in 2010, while The King was yet to make “The Decision” to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, the Mavericks owner Mark Cuban had texted James. James could have teamed up with Dirk Nowitzki, who would eventually defeat his Heat Big-3 in the upcoming season (2010-11) for the championship. However, the deal didn’t go through.

Cuban’s dream of LeBron playing in Dallas could end up becoming true if Irving’s demands are taken seriously.
