“I’m Nowhere Near Picking Up a Basketball Yet!”: Stephen Curry Gives an Update on His Shoulder Injury as Warriors Battle Knicks on TNT
The Golden State Warriors made their way to New York. They’re taking on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight and then the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center tomorrow. However, with Stephen Curry out due to an injury, these matchups are harder than they should have been.
In the two games without Steph so far, the Warriors have managed to split their results. However, it seems like tonight’s game might tip the scales toward the loss column.
Along with Steph, the Dubs are missing Andrew Wiggins, JayMychal Green, and Donte DiVincenzo tonight. Jordan Poole seems to be the lone fighting scorer, as the others are struggling from the field.
During half-time, Steph gave us an update about his injury and how his rehab is going.
How is Stephen Curry coping with the shoulder injury?
The last time Steph was at Madison Square Garden, he broke the NBA’s 3-point record. However, this time around, the only thing he could do was sit on the sidelines and watch the short-handed Warriors struggle on the floor.
The Warriors take on Kevin Durant and the Nets tomorrow and then head home for the Xmas day game against Ja Morant and the Grizzlies. Both are much anticipated contests. With no definite update on Stephen Curry’s shoulder, he was asked about the same during halftime.
Steph Curry on TNT discussing his rehab:
“I’m still in the early healing process. I’m nowhere near picking up a basketball yet. It’ll be a few weeks. I think maybe til the new year and I’ll start to key in on a timeline after that.”

From what Steph said, it looks like he might miss more than the three-four weeks that were expected at the start. However, one must remember that it’s just one week into his injury, and the initial pain is the hardest part of the shoulder subluxation rehab.
Can the Warriors hold on without Steph?
Ever since Steph’s injury, the Warriors have been trying to decide what benchmark they should have for themselves without their Finals MVP. The consensus came out to be a .500 record. So far, they’ve managed to do so in the two games, but to keep it up would be difficult.
With Andrew Wiggins and others out, things get tougher for the guys on the floor. On top of that, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green need to rise up to the occasion, something which hasn’t been clear in the last two games.
The fans can hope that the team somehow miraculously keeps themselves afloat enough till Steph’s return, and they can make a late push for a playoff berth.
