Is Karl Malone Still a Truck Driver? Utah Jazz Legend’s Second Career Was a Humble and Yet Questionable Step-Down
Karl Malone’s nickname is the Mailman. The name was predicated on his ability to deliver points for his time, day in and day out. Utah Jazz fans remember the Mailman quite fondly.
But what you didn’t know about the guy who sits 3rd on NBA’s all-time scoring list is that he was a man of many habits. NBA Players have vices, and Karl Malone had professions.
He wanted to be a bodybuilder, cop, hunting guide, pilot, and long-haul trucker. The latter is something he achieved and the focus of our story.
Yes, NBA legend Karl Malone was indeed a truck driver. “he loves trucking” says an associate at a Louisiana Timberland property he owns.
Karl Malone was a Truck Driver
Imagine getting a delivery and the guy giving you the shipment given to you by an NBA legend. Karl’s love for trucking is great.
While he may love setting up all kinds of businesses (for a laundry list of all of Malone’s various businesses, you can click here.), Karl likes trucking the most. He likes Trucking much so that he routinely does deliveries for his companies. Talk about getting your hands dirty.
The Mailman likes to deliver, quite literally. Don’t let his job fool you. The Mailman is quite rich. He is a millionaire. He learned his tricks from the owner of the Jazz at the time. Malone has a net worth of $55 million.
While he may have been delivering or indulging in much of his business, his actual whereabouts are quite unclear, one thing has been made certain- Malone will be making a public appearance soon.
Karl Malone’s return is anticipated as Utah hosts this year’s all-star game
Karl has told the media that he plans to appear in Utah after being “off the grid”. The reasons for staying off the grid are many, one of which is the Gloria Bell and Demetress Bell saga. A story he likes to avoid.
And one that can bring more painful information to light.

It will be great to see an NBA legend appear in public, however, the real question remains as to how his public appearance will be viewed as. We live in very transparent times. Karl’s appearance might not be a good idea.
Will it be met with negativity? What will the media think? Is this good for the city of Utah? We will find out in a few weeks’ time.
What we do know is, Karl Malone is still a truck driver. For the time being.
