Is Russell Westbrook playing today vs Thunder? Rockets’ coach offers injury update for Game 3
‘Is Russell Westbrook playing today’ has been the question that every Rockets fan is wondering about. Here we look at what Mike D’Antoni had to say.
Westbrook injured his quad during the Rockets’ loss to the Blazers on 4th August. The superstar took part in only 4 league games in the bubble. Westbrook had been in the media scrutiny as the star reportedly caught coronavirus after partying in Las Vegas.
While the Rockets haven’t really struggled without Westbrook, they would still want him to be back, as Rockets will desperately need him in the Western conference semi-finals(provided the Rockets make it there)
Is Russell Westbrook playing today vs Thunder?
Russell Westbrook will continue to sit on the sidelines after the star failed to recover in time for game 3 against the Thunder tonight. The Rockets have still managed to take a 2-0 lead and know a victory today will certainly break the back for Chris Paul and co.

The Rockets will hope to get back Westbrook in time for their conference semi-finals as they look to dent the Thunder massively with a 3-0. James Harden has been double-teamed and the superstar will miss Rus as he shared the offensive load throughout the season.
Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said Russell Westbrook will do some running and shooting today at practice. No contact yet. D’Antoni on Westbrook for Game 3: “he’s probably out.” Rockets will determine officially by 5:30 pm ET when they have to report injuries to the league

Westbrook’s arrival made the Rockets go small as it allowed the former MVP to drive to the rim at will. Westbrook averages 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7 assists this season. Harden scored 37 points and made 11 boards in the first game but was restricted to 21 points in game 2 as the superstar looked a tad off.
Chris Paul’s Thunder have been a little off boil in the ongoing series vs Rockets, as everyone expected them to win at least 1 of the first 2 games, especially in the absence of Westbrook.
If Westbrook does return, it looks like CP3 and co. will be heading home for sure.
