LeBron James’s Lakers were able to steal Game 1 against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors by the skin of their teeth. However, there is no time to rest yet. Game 2 takes place at 6 PM (ET) on May 4th. And it’s one that is sure to be even more competitive than these two teams’ last contest. Darvin Ham was recently asked to speak on exactly this topic, and how LA is fighting off the emotional pressure of facing the reigning champions in a best of 7 series. And in his response, the Lakers’ head coach couldn’t help but flatter Curry and his Warriors with a barrage of compliments, before of course, he gave his stance on the stress on them at the moment.

 

Darvin Ham acknowledges the Golden State Warriors’ depth beyond Stephen Curry, along with his thoughts on dealing with the pressure

Darvin Ham may be a bit of a panic appointment for the Lakers, but there is no doubt he is a man wise beyond his years. So, while he knows that his team is well-oiled and running at the moment, he also realizes the gravity of the challenge he has to overcome. “We (LeBron James and the Lakers) are going to treat each game as it’s own entity. And I think that’s how you do that (deal with the pressure and win)… We all know what they’re are capable of. It’s not just (Stephen Curry) Steph. Obviously he drowned out the media headlines with his 50 point performance in game 7.

But, they also have Klay (Thompson). They also have Loon (Kevon Looney). They also have (Andrew) Wiggins, Draymond (Green). They affect the game in various ways… We just take it one step at a time.”

Stephen Curry and his team would have already been feeling pretty good about themselves after having improved so much from the depths of abyss they were in for so much of the season. However, these words coming from their opposing coach will mean something to them as well. Still, we doubt it will have done anything to dull their killer instinct. Game 2 is set to be a doozy.
