“Jayson Tatum truly deserves that MVP!”: NBA Twitter lauds 6ft 8” Celtics star for Unique 34/19/4 stat line

The Boston Celtics have been playing some great basketball all season long. However, since the beginning of the new calendar year, Jayson Tatum and co. have taken it to a different level altogether.

Being undefeated since January 5th, Joe Mazzulla’s boys finally got their chance to redeem themselves against the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 Finals rematch.

With neither of the teams missing out on the services of any star player, the Celtics-Warriors clash was an action-packed thriller, to say the least.

The clash witnessed 8 lead changes, 8 ties, and no team leading by more than 11 points at the most. After 53 minutes of intense basketball being played, the Cs grabbed a 121-118 win in OT.

Unique stat line gets Jayson Tatum in history books

Stephen Curry had an impressive 5th outing after missing out on several weeks due to a shoulder injury. The 2022 Finals MVP ended up scoring 29 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. However, it was Tatum who managed to eclipse Curry’s stat sheet stuffing performance.

Playing a game-high 48:07 minutes, the former Duke Blue Devil went on to record 34 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals while going 12/12 from the charity stripe. A performance that has never been emulated before in franchise history.

The 3-time All-Star also reached the 9,000-point milestone, becoming only the 10th player below the age of 25 to do so.

NBA Twitter reacts to Tatum’s historic outing

As soon as Tatum’s stats went viral, NBA Twitter blew up with reactions.

JT has been phenomenal this season. One of the frontrunners to win the first-ever Michael Jordan Trophy, the 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 31.2/8.5/4.3. And is also the main reason behind Boston having the best record in the association.
