"Jayson Tatum's Doesn't Look Big On TV": Anthony Edwards Reveals How Deceptively Muscular The 210lb Celtics Star Is

Jayson Tatum is without a doubt the heart and soul of the Boston Celtics. In his six seasons in the NBA, the young man has improved by leaps and bounds. Not just in skill, but in terms of physique as well. And, according to one of his opponents, Anthony Edwards, while may look lean on TV, he is much more muscular looking in person.

In 2017, the Celtics selected Tatum with the second overall pick, and it has been a fairytale ever since. In his career thus far, Jayson has averaged close to 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists per game. And, last season he was integral in the team’s run to the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately, they fell short, as Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors proved too much to handle. So, what did Tatum do? He started working on himself. He has been focuseing on his health lately, and now, to quote Ant, “He’s mostly muscle”.

Anthony Edwards claims Jayson Tatum is far more muscular than he looks on TV

As things stand, the Boston Celtics are in a great position to once again make it to the NBA Finals. Under coach Joe Mazzulla, the Celtics are looking better than ever. Some may even say they look increasingly capable than they did last season.

While coaching and off-season acquisitions have been important, the reason for their success remains the same. Jayson Tatum has been the catalyst for The C’s success. He has been in fine form, currently averaging around 26 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists per game in the 2022-2023 Playoffs.

The man LeBron James once dubbed The Problem, has been, as the nickname suggests, a problem for opposing teams. And, part of the reason is due to his new physique. Just ask Anthony Edwards, who in a recent interview revealed that while Tatum, who stands at 6’8″ and weighs 210 lbs, may not look that big on TV, he is extremely well-built when you see him in person.

“Now you see how Tatum look on TV? Tatum don’t look big on TV man. But, when you see that ni**a in person. Damn that ni**a. This is mostly muscle in my flex, but that’s the size of Tatum’s arm. That s**t look crazy!”

To be fair to Edwards, Tatum is looking bigger. And, perhaps part of the reason for his new muscular look is down to the strict diet he is on. Something he decided to do after last summer’s loss to the Warriors.

Tatum went on a diet to give himself an “edge” after 2022 Finals loss

The 2022 Finals was heartbreaking for the Boston Celtics. It was especially hard on Jayson Tatum. The man worked his hardest to try and win that Championship trophy. But, he realized that hard work wasn’t enough. So, he decided to go on a diet, something he had never tried before, but he was willing to do anything to get an “edge”.

He’s eating more consistently, eating better, losing body fat, trying to gain muscle, and most importantly, he’s removed fried foods from his diet.

It certainly seems to be working. As of now, the Celtics, with Tatum at the helm are one of the favorites to win it all. And, if Jayson continues to play the way he has, they most definitely will be champions very soon.
