“I call Anthony Davis ‘Street Clothes’ because he’s always in street clothes”: Charles Barkley explains why Anthony Davis is essential to LeBron James’ chances of pushing the Lakers past the Suns in Game 6
Charles Barkley referred to Anthony Davis as Mr. Street Clothes, alluding to how sorely the Lakers miss him despite having LeBron James.
Phoenix came out of the gate looking to capitalize on the absence of the Lakers’ best defender in Anthony Davis. They were immensely successful in their strategy, first making the Lakers collapse deeper to help Andre Drummond in the paint.
When they found the gaps on the perimeter, the Suns let fly like there’s no tomorrow. And on a night when most of them were clicking, they found putting the Lakers away to be a breezy affair.
LeBron James entered the game with high expectations from practically everyone in NBA fandom. In most people’s eyes, this was the game that he’d come into his own and display how he’s still the world’s best player.
Instead, what we saw was an insipid, often lethargic performance from a clearly demotivated LeBron. His ankle troubles seemed to finally be gone barely 5 days ago, but they seemed to have turned to concrete just as the pendulum swung Phoenix’s way.
“I call Anthony Davis ‘Street Clothes’ cuz he’s always in street clothes”: Charles Barkley on Lakers star
With the Lakers getting beat down by 30 points at halftime, there were few people sympathizing with their plight – least of all of them being Chuck. Barkley found the perfect way to summarize the situation pithily:
“I told you, the Lakers can’t win this thing – this series, forget about the championship – without Street Clothes. I call him Anthony ‘Street Clothes’ Davis. Cuz he’s always in street clothes.”
Chuck calls Anthony Davis “Street clothes.” 😂😬

Draymond Green couldn’t contain his laughter even as he sat in the studio. Ernie Johnson had to demand an explanation for the benefit of a few viewers, but it’s quite clear that people are already on the ADisney trail. The next 2 games could really put Anthony Davis’s legacy on the line.
