“LeBron James wants to tell Kevin Durant, ‘I can win with Russ’”: Skip Bayless presents unique take on Russell Westbrook joining Lakers

NBA Twitter went into kneejerk-reaction mode as rumors of Russell Westbrook joining LeBron James on the Lakers reached fever pitch.

Renowned NBA insiders Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski have both reported a flurry of draft-day trades by the Lakers. Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a first-round pick is the rumored package for Westbrook.

The Brody was in prime form through the final third of the Wizards’ 2021 NBA season. He racked up triple-doubles nonstop as they surged from 17-32 to a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

Russell Westbrook is a Los Angeles native and was born in Long Beach. His LA ties aside, there have been several murmurs all through July linking several point guards to the Lakers.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were both severely limited by injuries through the second half of the Lakers’ season last year. Westbrook’s arrival, if finalized, would take significant offensive pressure off the 2 other MVP-caliber talents.

Many people are questioning their fit together based on the theoretically terrible spacing. But with this amount of talent, and given that the Lakers’ 2020 championship blueprint didn’t involve a ton of 3-point shooting, a trio of Westbrook, LeBron and AD is downright scary.

However, these draft-night trades are still to materialize and be finalized. We’re all waiting for the league’s landscape to undergo a sea change once again in what seems to be yet another eventful offseason.

As expected, NBA Twitter saw a wide range of reactions to the trade. NBA fans love to get worked up about many things before they materialize. But the idea of LeBron being on another superteam was sure to draw a tidal wave of such reactions.
