LeBron James’ I Promise School, Which costs $8 Million in Taxpayer Money Each Year, is Better Than 99% of Schools
Seems as though whatever LeBron James puts his hand on has a seemingly high chance of success. Just take the I Promise School for example. Growing up in impoverished neighborhoods of Akron, Ohio; James wanted to start a school knowing the plight of others like him.
In 2018, he inaugurated the foundations for the I Promise School, which took four years to completely open and finally began its full slew of operations in 2022. It started with schooling for up to grades 3 and 4. In 2022, it was complete till schooling for 8th grade.
James’ school cost $8 million in taxpayer money, which was not received well by the media or fans. But it seems, the taxpayer money has been put to good use.
James’ school happens to be 99% better than other schools in a startling metric reveal!
LeBron James’ I Promise School is better than 99% of schools
Yes, as per a fact check, LeBron James’ school has been performing better than 99% of schools. In terms of test scores, perhaps the most crucial metric.
And while the general idea behind test scores isn’t the most revealing aspect of school, the premise behind increased test scores may have to do with the fact that I Promise does things differently.
LeBron James started the “I Promise School” for at-risk students, where they have 8 hours days, a longer school year, free meals, and receive tuition for college

In LeBron’s school, they have a longer school year, free meals, and 8-hour school days, they are also granted tuition for college, which means children aren’t relying on their own merit and have a good safety net.
Initiatives that show why I Promise is better
The simple yet effective things they do at I Promise are why the school performs better than 99% of others. Children aren’t afraid of the world. The promise is that they will be taken care of even in higher education.
This ensures that children can learn freely and encourages them to seek out their dreams without any qualms.
LeBron deserves a salutation for this. A gesture that is shaping his community. And perhaps in the future, it will shape the world.
