While LeBron James might have had one eye on the Brooklyn Nets tonight, he’s also gearing up for the international release of Space Jam 2.

The Lakers blew the Pelicans out last night 112-95, stifling their second-half offense to just 37 points. Today being their rest day, James had an opportunity to concentrate on matters other than basketball. James posted a short trailer of Space Jam 2 on his Instagram this afternoon.
Space Jam 2 will feature a number of NBA A-listers. It will pit LeBron James, the star of the show, against the Monstars, after Michael Jordan’s fashion. In his bid to emulate MJ on and off the court, James has successfully pursued remaking the most famous basketball movie of his childhood.

Space Jam 2 has been James’ pet project for a number of years. But he only started shooting for it once he moved to the Lakers as a free agent.

The movie, set to release internationally on July 16th this year, will feature James, among many other NBA stars. You can take a first, preliminary look at it here, right on LeBron’s profile.
A cursory glance reveals that he’s wearing a similar jersey to the ones worn in the original Space Jam. Mike wore a blue jersey while playing for the Tune squad in the OG movie.

The movie, much like Space Jam, also has a few of the NBA A-listers featured in it. Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson and Chris Paul are all in, as is Kyle Kuzma. Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike, Nicole Kornet, and Chiney Ogwumike are the WNBA players making cameo appearances.
James has also managed to rope in legendary duo Hans Zimmer and Kris Bowers as the composers for the movie. This duo also worked together for the release of Christopher Nolan’s famous Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
