“Losing Sucks!”: Stephen Curry Lists Warriors’ Challenges After Blowing 17-Point Lead to Kyrie Irving and the Nets
The Golden State Warriors have now lost four consecutive games at home. During the entire 2022-23 NBA season, the Warriors were abysmal on the road, but at least they were good at home. As of late, they completed a 3-2 road trip but have lost four straight at home. Stephen Curry and co blew yet another double-digit lead tonight as they lost to the Nets.
Despite leading by 12 near the 6th-minute mark of the 4th quarter, the Warriors managed to lose the contest 120-116. This marks the 2nd Nets win over the Warriors this season, helping them take the season series 2-0.
This loss highlighted quite a few glaring issues that the Warriors have been unable to fix so far. After the game, Steph sat with the press and talked about some of it.
“Don’t wanna explain why we didn’t get the job done every night!”: Stephen Curry
The Warriors have lost yet another close game. This makes it, well, we’ve lost count how many times they’ve done it this season. Despite building good leads, the Warriors fail to close out in the 4th quarter and end up giving away games that should have been theirs to win. Talking about the same, Stephen Curry said,
“No matter what the reason is, losing is a terrible feeling. We hate it …[We] need to do something about it…Nobody is thinking we can’t do it. That’s our challenge, to not be in the situation where every other night we are explaining why we didn’t get the job done.”

The glaring challenges for the Dubs, as listed by Steph were:
The reoccurring explanation to why the Warriors have been giving up late-game leads has been lack of execution. Steph Curry listed lack of communication, missing switches and box outs, fouling and stagnant offense and hero ball as just a few things on the laundry list of issues.

With the Warriors’ 47 games in the season, they need to start fixing things instead of finding new flaws.
Can the Warriors defend their title?
There are 35 games left for the Dubs this season. So far from what we’ve seen, even the Warriors find ways to surprise themselves every single night. If they want to repeat their success, the Warriors would have to somehow buckle up and figure out how to play good team ball.
As of now, as Steph mentioned, there is a lack of communication, stagnant offense, and a lot of hero ball. This is not what makes the Warriors who they are. If they need to win, everyone needs to step up, and figure out how to get things on the right track.
