Dirk Nowitzki has one of the most meaningful championships in the history of the NBA. His supporting cast didn’t feature a single superstar that was of his caliber and he claimed that championship along with a Finals MVP with the team that had drafted, close to a decade and a half after being drafted.

Mark Cuban believed in him more than Steve Nash and stuck with him for every single one of those years and it had finally paid off in the 2011 NBA Finals. The Miami Heat were kind of like the opposite of the Dallas Mavericks at that point.
The Heat had attracted superstar talent and were the flashier team while the Mavs simply clocked in and out of work with while attracting 0 talent of the likes of Chris Bosh and LeBron James. Despite this, in 6 games, Dallas would claim their franchise’s first ever Larry O’Brien trophy.

Mark Cuban would have his card decline after quite the extravagant purchase
Regardless of how humble you are, after winning the NBA championship, you’ve got to get loose. And that’s exactly what the Mavericks did. They celebrated at the LIV club with Mark Cuban heading all the expenses.
One such expense was a $140,000 bottle of champagne that Dirk Nowitzki insisted on getting for the group. Given that Cuban has a net worth of $4.6 billion, getting that bottle would be no problem. He built the Dallas Mavericks into a premier franchise in the league after having purchased it for $285 million in January of 2000.
However, his credit card would get declined, surprising him. After a call with his credit card company in the back room, it would all get sorted out and Dirk would get his bottle of $140,000 champagne.

Mark Cuban has a new European superstar
The Dallas Mavericks unveiled a statue of Dirk Nowitzki shooting his iconic one-legged fadeaway recently outside of the American Airlines center. That’s what Cuban wants out of his current prized possession, Luka Doncic, when it’s all said and done.
The Mavs are currently middling with no clear sense of direction. While they know they want to compete for a title, their roster would suggest otherwise. With Doncic only getting better, currently leading the league in scoring, Cuban and company need to find ways to surround him with talent as quickly as possible.
